The items of the meeting, "e-city" and "business promotion" were based on the decision taken in Liepaja meeting in 2001. The first invitation for the meeting was send in February 2002. The meeting was participated by 28 persons from 17 member cities and 7 countries.


In the meeting was agreed the following plan for future Commission work: 

          *Cooperation projects:

The cities aim to start cooperation projects in the fields of following items:

1.     Cluster development 
        Tampere, Kaunas, Tallinn, St Petersburg, Kolding, Pärnu, Jurmala
        Coordinator: Tallinn

2.     eDimension (+youth entrepreneusrship)
        Tampere, Kaunas, St Petersburg, Jurmala, Tartto
        Coordinator: Tampere

3.     How to establish industrial / technology park?
        Tampere, Pärnu, Kaunas, Panevezys, Mariampole,  Cesis, Klaipeda, Voru

        Coordinator: Tampere

4.     Seed Fund
        Gdansk, Tartto, Kaunas, Panevezys, Tampere
        Coordinator: Gdansk

5.     Business climate
        Liepaja, Kolding, Klaipeida, Pärnu, Gdansk, Kaunas
        Coordinator: Kolding

6.     Interactive UBC website to exchange of project ideas
        The need for interactive website was discussed. 

The coordinators will make preliminar project plan and search financing possibilities until 1.10.2002.

         * The other decisions made in the Tampere meeting:

The next UBC Business Commission meeting will be held in Kaunas during the week 21 in connection with the "Kaunas Day". Mr Ruta Antanaitiene, Officer of Foreign Relations of Kaunas wellcomed UBC Cities to next meeting in Kaunas on May 2003. The UBC meeting 2004 will possibly take place in Växjö

The cities were asked about their willingness to establish a permanent secretariat for Commission. At the moment no one was interested to take responsibility of the permanent secretary. The item was agreed to postpone to the next meeting.

Tampere will collect all the material of the meeting and send it to all the UBC Cities.
