| The
EnvCom Secretariat is coordinating the project and nine UBC member cities are involved
with a task to start and extend the EMAS (Eco Management and Audit Scheme) in their own
organisations. EMAS will be here a big help and support to built the management system of
the local authority in order to ensure the continuous improvement of the authority's
performance as well as the involvement of employees and local communities. The whole project involves 16 cities and is being
carried out in partnership with Eurocities and University of West England. Co-funding has
been received from the European Commission DG Environment. The project lasts until end of
