The work of Johann Sebastian Bach is the main motive of this festival of classical music. Since 1946 the festival has attracted more than half a million visitors to more than 1500 events. In 2017 “Reformatio mundi” is the theme of the festival in 2017.
The week of Bach will take a look to the future and will ask: What does Luther´s reformation mean for the church nowadays and in the world? Against this background associated ensembles from South Africa, Namibia, the United States of America and Brazil are invited to Greifswald to bring on stage their relation to the Lutheran Bach works.
Different concerts, sacred music for the morning, church services as well as a variety of choir-projects, that are open to interested singers with some experience, await visitors during all days.
