Welcome to meeting of the commission on Gender Equality 

The next meeting of the commission will be held in Panevezys, Lithuania in April. We are very happy to be welcomed by the city of Panevezys!

The date for the meeting is 22th-24th of April. We will also visit the European Institute for Gender Equality in Vilnius.  

We would especially like to stress the importance of participation for the need to discuss and outline our future activities within the Commission on Gender Equality. We would like to strongly encourage you to take this opportunity and contribute with your good ideas on how to continue the processes started and how to make use of the UBC Commission on Gender Equality to strengthen the work on Gender Equality in our region.

Your participation will help make our work as good and useful as possible for our cities. 

We will send out detailed program and practical details of the meeting shortly. Please start checking travel options so you can get cheap tickets if possible. We will be back with details on travel arrangements and where there will be transport to Panevezys, for those who need to.

We have some possibility to help with part of travel cost and accomodation for representatives from cities in Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and Russia. All other countries pay for travel + accomodation from their city.

Preliminary program

Arrival in late afternoon/evening of 21/4 to Panevezys. Get-together dinner!

22/4 - Meeting of the commission, study visit

23/4 - Meeting of commission, transport to Vilnius. Study visit at the newly opened European Gender Institute. This institute is part of the European Commission´s organisation around Gender Equality issues and is situated in Vilnius.

24/4 - Vilnius, end of meeting with lunch.
