"This bulletin does not improve the environment - only actions do"

Baltic Cities - Environmental Bulletin

We are all aware of the importance of a sound natural environment. But we all contribute to the deterioration of our environment. We all recognize the need for preventing and healing actions to ensure a sustainable environment. But our contribution calls for profound changes in our environmental habits and patterns.

The UBC Commission on Environment is in constant pursuit of sustainable development and the use of environmental practices in the Baltic Sea Region. The UBC Commission on Environment promotes projects which aim at improving and spreading environmental awareness and know-how in the Baltic Sea Region. The UBC Commission on Environment encourages training and education in environmental issues and promotes the use of pro-environmental methods and technology.

These are our ambitious goals, but luckily we share these tasks with other devoted players in this field. Our contribution will primarily be within the "software" business as initiater, coordinater, educator etc.. This environmental bulletin aims at spreading information about good (and maybe also bad) examples of environmental initiatives and experiences in UBC-cities as well as about cooperation between cities. We sincerely hope that it can inspire all of us to further environmental initiatives and cooperation among cities.

This is not a scientific bulletin but rather an informative and innovative bulletin primarily for politicians and technicians responsible for urban environments. Do not hesitate to use this bulletin as a source of information and initiatives in your city.

Environmental improvements depend very much on your actions!
