News from the City of Klaipeda

Information for city inhabitants about the environment

The Nature Protection Department of the Municipality of Klaipeda has set ut stands in the center of the city which inform citizens of the state of the environment.

The city's inhabitants can see and read news about the pollution of ground, air and water in the city. The largest polluters are also publicized as well as what is being done to decrease pollution. In addition, the stands contain environmental news from Lithuania, Europe and elsewhere round the world. Much attention is given in particular to the protection of the Curonian Lagoon, the Baltic Sea and their respective coasts.

People have been very interested in this information. Teachers have brought whole classes of pupils to the stands. Material on display is changed every two months.
