In June, a new organisation called Keep Baltic Tidy (KBT) was founded in Jurmala, Latvia. KBT is a cooperation organ for the following organisations:
- Keep the Archipelago Tidy (Finland)
- ECOBALTIC Foundation (Poland)
- Keep Sweden Tidy Foundation
- Open Air Council (Denmark)
- Keep Latvia Tidy Foundation
- Keep the Estonian Sea Tidy Association
- Lithuanian Fund for Nature
- Keep St. Petersburg Tidy (Russia)
KBT's main purpose is to coordinate and develop the environmental conservation efforts of its member organisations. Mainly, these activities concentrate on the environmental education of young people, cleaning beaches and reducing the environmental consequences of leisure boating. KBT shall give special attention to the coastal and skerry areas. KBT supplements rather than substitutes for the work of other interest groups in this field.
For further information on KBT and its future plans, please contact Mr Bo Lindholm, Chairman of the KBT, fax. +358 2 4602 808.
