UBC's training programme

UBC´s training programme is a part of the UBC´s input into HELCOM`s Baltic Sea Joint Comprehensive Environmental Action Plan (JCP) as a lead party in implementing its element II, "Institutional Strenghtening and Human Resource Development". The programme is financed by the Nordic Council of Ministers and consists of four events.

* Seminar On Physical Planning And Environment was held in Klaipeda in February. The main theme was the important connections which physical planning and environmental issues nowadays have in urban settings. More than 60 experts and politicians from 20 member cities participated in the seminar.

* Seminar on Recycling As an Element Of Solid Waste Management took place in Riga in March. There were over 70 participants in this seminar. The seminar was followed by a course on the same topic in Gdansk at the end of August.

* A course on Recycling As an Element Of Solid Waste Management was held in Gdansk in the end of August. 35 specialists from 15 cities participated in this three day course. Most cities provided a presentation of their existing situation concerning recycling. Recycling plans were prepared for the cities in the working groups.

* A course on Physical Planning And Environment will was held in Liepaja 24 - 27 October. More information about it in the next newsletter.
