The most popular race, attracting the biggest crowd, takes place in Kuressaare, where cars race round the castle park and along the narrow streets of the old town.

Lars Lerin Museum Sandgrund

Lars Lerin is considered to be one of Scandinavia’s leading artists in watercolor technique. He has had solo exhibitions and group exhibitions in art museums and galleries in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, France, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Germany, Norway and the United States. Lars Lerin’s work is exhibited in County Councils and Municipalities in Sweden and Norway. The permanent exhibition shows different themes from Lars Lerin’s 30 years as an artist. Sandgrund contains watercolor paintings, oil paintings, graphic art, collages and photographs from many places in the world.

Kuressaare Chamber Music Days is an event for the classics of the chamber music but also an event where pieces of music have been performed for the first time ever.

Each summer, a huge opera tent is erected in the Kuressaare castle yard. Although, the word tent refers to modest conditions, it actually is a sumptuous temporary opera house with red carpets, crystal chandeliers and chairs clothed in white.  During earlier years, the opera artists from Georgia, Russia and Italy performed on the opera stage of Kuressaare. 2017 is a chance to enjoy the performances of Krefeld-Mönchengladbach Theatre from Germany.
