Last weekend of May is special to everyone here in Jelgava.
Citizens and guests can plunge into our City festival that offers wide range of activities, including performances, shows, exhibitions, concerts and numerous parades.

Plant Days

Spring is the time when the best gardeners of Latvia come to Jelgava to participate in Plant Days in the scenic Park of Jelgava Palace.
Plant growers, collectors and garden supply merchants offer plants, garden decorations, fertilizers, garden tools and professional advices while local entertainers make the event festive.

Easter Promenade

Easter in Jelgava is the time when every family is invited to take a stroll through the park of Jelgava palace, look for eggs that had been hidden by Easter bunny, listen to folklore groups, dance and sing together with others and play all kind of games – egg rolling, painting on pavement, pot hitting and darting eggs into a basket.
All visitors will be given the opportunity to buy all kind of treats and trinkets at the Easter Fair.

20th International Ice sculpture festival “Dreams”

The Ice Sculpture festival brings thousands of visitors to Jelgava for the largest outdoor festival of the season every year to see the works of sculptors from around the world make sculptures from 40 tons of crystal clear ice.
With sculptures shining in colorful spotlights, concerts and many activities for the whole family the festival gives you the beauty and fun of winter.
Place: Pasta (Post) Island, Duke Jacob Square and J. Čakstes Boulevard

Climate Sail

Climate sail is an education project by the North Church (together with participating cities) especially for young people. Climate sail will end in Greifswald on 14-15 July 2018. The 4 weeks sailing trip starts in Flensburg and will have stopovers in Kiel and Rostock.
The project has the target to discuss sustainability and lifestyle aspects due to climate change with participants. Furthermore, there are activities at land stops related to the topic.

Masterplan networking meeting

The 2018 Masterplan network (22 cities) meeting will take place in Greifswald, on 13-15 June 2018.   
The so called government funded Masterplan Cities are cities in Germany with the most ambitious targets towards energy saving and reduction of CO2 emissions until 2050. Every city has a plan confirmed by city council on how to reach these targets. The meeting will serve on how to bring the plans into activities and find out about best practice examples in different fields of climate protection (smart mobility, energy saving, power generation, citizen participation).
