Minutes of the 71st Meeting of the Executive Board
Växjö, 28–30 October 2014
1.            Opening of the meeting and adoption of the agenda.
Per Bødker Andersen, the President of the Union, opened the meeting. Mr Andersen expressed his gratitude to the hosts for inviting the UBC Executive Board to hold its 71st meeting in Växjö. The meeting adopted the agenda, attached to the minutes.

UBC General Conference will be held on the premises of Pomeranian Science and Technology Park in Gdynia

- The theme of this year’s Conference Building Smart Cities in the Baltic Sea Region underlines opportunities and challenges of the cities using smart solutions in all areas of life. The meeting creates an ideal space for exchanging experiences of the Baltic Cities and starting discussions leading to the implementation of new projects. The city of Gdynia is honoured to host the XIII UBC General Conference. — Wojciech Szczurek, Mayor of Gdynia

Time to nominate candidates for the Baltic Sea Fund prize 2016

Now it is time to nominate candidate for the Baltic Sea award 2016. The organisers ask for help to find the person who or organisation which have done meaningful and outstanding achievements for the Baltic Sea environment. More information about the nomination can be found on our web page.

The nominations shall be submitted by November 20th 2014. The laureates receive their prizes at a solemn ceremony held in Mariehamn on 13th of May 2015. Prize winners are announced one month before the award ceremony.

Union of the Baltic Cities (UBC) is the leading network of cities in the Baltic Sea Region with around 100 Member Cities from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russia and Sweden. Dear friends,

UBC- Youthful cities commission is please to inform you that we are organizing a Youth Conference which will be held parallel to the UBC General Assembly in Gdynia Poland. The conference will held on 25-31.10.2015. As we have applied (and received) for funds through EU Erasmus+ program we are facing some issues with regards to participation – Partners in the project are Kolding, Gävle, Turku, Liepaja, Riga and Gdynia, but we will accept participants from other cities as well. Project title is “Youth for equality, equity and Peace”.
